World of Women
Branding, Web Design, Design Direction
Proponents of cryptocurrencies speak to the potential of democratizing financial investing, but a gender gap in crypto investing is stubbornly persistent. Men comprise more than two-thirds of the overall crypto market, and this disparity is even more pronounced in NFTs. Artist Yam Karkai has ventured to increase women’s share of crypto wealth with World of Women, a generative NFT project, supporting an expanding community of female-identifying digital artists. We collaborated on a rebrand and web design to ignite her vision into a sustainable movement.
Work done while at ThoughtMatter
Our team was inspired by the generative works of World of Women and the DAO structure of the organization. Each of Karkai’s portraits is a composite attributes—building blocks combined via a unique algorithm. The overall project is a composite of individual portraits. We embraced this ideology and created an identity system with the ability to adapt it’s palette to each unique NFT. Giving token-holders a stake in the brand.
Our team used the vibrant colors of Karkai’s portraits to create an expressive, structured color palette. For the brand’s typography and logo, we found inspiration in the rounded, smooth lines that characterize Karkai’s artistic style. We designed the twin w’s in the brand name to be suggestive of a partnership and empowerment. Taken together, the components of the brand’s identity system are an appropriate visual representation of World of Women’s mission.
We applied World of Women’s fresh and dynamic branding to a variety of brand assets, and we built a new website to communicate the story of World of Women and facilitate the sale of the project’s remaining NFTs to investors around the globe.
